7shifts vs Toast Scheduling (2026): Features, Prices and the $50 Toast Integration Fee

By the HospitalityStack editors · written from hotel & resort F&B experience

The short answer

If you run Toast and need simple schedules, Toast's Scheduling Basic is included with Toast POS, so start there. If you need labor budgeting against forecasted sales, compliance alerts, mobile time clock and tip management, compare Toast Scheduling Pro (priced in Toast Shop, not published) with 7shifts (published plans from $0 to about $150 per location a month). Remember that using 7shifts with Toast also means paying Toast's $50/month per location for integration access, according to 7shifts' own Toast setup guide (checked Oct 2026).

Toast Scheduling: Basic (included) and Pro (add-on)

Toast's support center says Sling Lite is included in every Toast POS package as Scheduling Basic, free for as long as you're a Toast customer, with no limit on employees. Scheduling Basic covers creating, copying and publishing shifts, Toast IQ help with schedules, shift alarms in the MyToast app, shift offers and open shifts, manager approvals, unpaid time-off requests and weather forecasts. Scheduling Pro adds shift swaps, paid time-off requests, employee unavailability, revenue forecasting against labor and sales projections and a remote/mobile time clock; the older Sling Pro feature list also includes labor budgeting, overtime management, schedule enforcement, geofencing, timesheet sync with Toast, shift tasks and group messaging. Toast says you upgrade through Toast Shop, where the price is shown, and Sling Pro has a 15-day trial. On Toast's pricing page, Scheduling Pro sits in the Team Management Essentials add-on with Toast Tips Manager, and Toast's POS + Payroll bundle ($69/month + $9 per employee) lists basic scheduling (checked Oct 2026).

7shifts plans and prices

7shifts lists four plans per location per month (monthly billing / annual billing, rounded to the dollar): Comp: free for single locations with up to 15 employees (basic scheduling, one-way announcements, availability and time-off requests). Essentials: $45 / $40, up to 30 employees (advanced scheduling, team messaging, basic time clocking, custom permissions). Pro: $90 / $80, up to 60 employees (PTO accruals, labor compliance and labor cost tools, advanced time clocking, manager log book). Premium: $150 / $135, unlimited employees (adds tip management, task management, 7shifts Payroll and employee training). POS integration is listed on every plan, and schedule enforcement on the POS on Pro and Premium. Add-ons: 7shifts Payroll $40/month per location + $6 per employee paid (included on Premium), Tip Management $50/month, Manager Log Book $15/month, Task Management $13/month. New accounts get a 14-day free trial of Pro with no credit card (checked Oct 2026).

What the Toast + 7shifts integration does

7shifts' Toast guide says the integration syncs net sales (with up to 90 days of history imported), time-clock punches and hourly wages from Toast, so 7shifts can show labor cost against sales and generate forecasts; it also supports tip pooling and can enforce schedules at the Toast clock-in. Salaried positions don't sync wages, and Toast jobs must be mapped to 7shifts roles before labor data flows. Toast charges $50/month per location to access integration options (checked Oct 2026).

Cost example for one location on Toast

Toast Scheduling Basic: $0 extra.

Toast Scheduling Pro: the price in your Toast Shop or quote.

7shifts Essentials on Toast: about $40 (annual) + $50 Toast integration = about $90/month.

7shifts Pro on Toast: about $80 + $50 = about $130/month.

7shifts Comp on Toast (up to 15 employees): $0 + $50 = $50/month, if you only need the integration's sales and labor sync.

If you connect other apps to Toast too (for example MarginEdge), ask Toast whether one integration-access fee covers all of them.

Which to pick

Pick Toast Scheduling Basic if you have one location, simple shifts and want zero extra vendors. Pick Toast Scheduling Pro if you want forecasting, swaps and a mobile time clock without leaving Toast, and the Toast Shop price beats 7shifts plus $50. Pick 7shifts if you want labor compliance tools, PTO accruals, the manager log book, tip management or payroll on the scheduling side, if you have several locations to manage in one place, or if you might change POS later, since 7shifts also connects to other POS systems.
